Wude (era)

Wude (武德) was the era name of Emperor Gaozu of the Tang dynasty in China, and the first era name of the Tang dynasty. It was used for eight years and eight months, from May 618 to 626. In August 626, Gaozu abdicated and Emperor Taizong ascended the throne, continuing to use the era name for the remaining five months. The era was changed in 627.
